Daily Dose: Could this be the worst trailer of the year?

After watching the trailer embedded below, you will not want to see “The Last Godfather.” This is the worst promotion for a movie I’ve see in a long time. What’s weird is that the movie is from the Korean team that brought us “Dragon Wars,” a movie that was bad but actually made some money. The thing about “Dragon Wars” or “D-War” is that the special effects, while cheesy, made the film bearable. Why, oh, why, wouldn’t the director, Korean comedian Hyung-rae Shim, make another crazy monster movie?

The reason is probably because Hyung-rae Shim wants to star in a film he also directs. And he does so in “The Last Godfather” in which he plays Harvey Keitel’s son! That’s right, the idea here is that the Don of a mob crime family is retiring and wants his Korean son to take over. I’ve not seen the movie, but the trailer is ridiculous. And poor Keitel, once an Oscar nominee, has to act with the likes of Jason Mewes, who we love as an often pot smoking loser, but hardly associate with good cinema when he’s not working with Kevin Smith.

DFF readers have to check out the trailer, and what the heck, maybe the film will be worth seeing for the train wreck that it promises below. One thing’s for sure, even though the production values might share some of the look of “Kung Fu Hustle,” it isn’t likely a transcendent cinematic experience.
