Does upcoming film “Premium Rush” look familiar? It should. Back in 1986, the fast, risk-taking bike messenger narrative was tried with Kevin Bacon as the two-wheeler speeder and Jami Gertz as the love interest. If you look closely at the trailer below, you’ll notice slim wise-cracking Laurence Fishburne in the cast as well.
This time around, with “Premium Rush” the bike messenger is played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. And to demonstrate the seven degrees of Bacon, “Rush” is directed by writer/director David Koepp, who directed “Quicksilver’s” Bacon in 1999’s “Stir of Echoes.” The trailers for both films are embedded below. “Premium Rush” rides into theaters in January of next year.
