But regardless whether you buy Glenn Close in the role like I did, it is hard to deny pull of the tender story told in \u201cAlbert Nobbs.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Close, who gives her best performance in years, plays the title character, a waiter at a hotel in 19th century Ireland.  Albert has a secret that we, the audience, already know&#8211;he is really a woman.  But Albert\u2019s real secret is why she has lived her life as a man.
