“Plastic Movies Rewound” is an ambitious film series bound to be the quintessential examination of the 1980s video boom. It comes from skilled documentarian Mike Malloy, the filmmaker responsible for the popular “Eurocrime” documentary.
Turning his lens to an era in popular culture that truly changed an industry as well as the way we watch and digest television and movies, Malloy’s series promises a detailed dissection of how it all happened. He devotes time to the evolving technologies (including the weird ones) and the philosophy (in which people began to amass collections of films).
