Number 6 – MONEYBALL

Brad Pitt gives a terrific performance as Billy Beane, the former player turned general manager of the Oakland A’s. When faced with a small team budget and left unable to compete against richer programs, Beane decides to make radical changes in putting together a team based on computer stats and algorithms. As he fights the system to look at the game differently, Beane tries to maintain a relationship with his daughter (a breakout Kerris Dorsey). While the film is about the quest to win, it isn’t about winning really, or even about baseball. “Moneyball” points up that how you play the game is everything. Few films had as much heart in 2011.
