ROBIN HOOD Trailer looks action-packed!

Taron Egerton and Jamie Foxx take up the bow and arrows in a reboot of the legendary mythic character.

Some stories never die. British director Otto Bathurst (who directed “The National Anthem” episode of “Black Mirror” in 2011) takes up the property with this new take on the legend. “Kingsman” star Taron Egerton stars as Robin, with Jamie Foxx appearing as Little John.

Perfect casting of Ben Mendelsohn as the Sheriff of Nottingham should give the film an excellent, and smarmy, villain. Remember that one of the best to play the role in the past was the late, great Alan Rickman. That movie, known as much for its theme song from Bryan Adams, was worth watching for Rickman’s marvelous performance along side his bumbling henchman Guy of Gisborne played by Michael Wincott.

The last theatrical outing for the Robin was Ridley Scott’s weak “Robin Hood” back in 2010. Russell Crowe played the lead in that heavy, at times, attempt to refresh the old story. In my DFF review (https://dailyfilmfix.com/?p=300), I called it one of the weakest takes on the character to date.

Look for the new “Robin Hood” to hit theaters on November 21, 2018, just in time for Thanksgiving.
