Creepy Plant Sci-Fi Fails to Germinate
This intellectual science fiction drama would have been much more effective as a short segment of an anthology series (see “Black Mirror” or the old “The Ray Bradbury Theater”). Stretching this small story to feature-length saps it of any tension and leaves the viewer checking his or her watch. What’s worse is that “Little Joe” fails to capitalize on the impressive cast, which includes “Into the Badlands” star Emily Beecham.
